Space Infrared Telescope Facility (SIRTF)

A NASA orbiting telescope for infrared astronomy, with a launch planned for late 2001 or 2002. It will have a 0.85-metre (33-inch) mirror and be equipped for imaging and spectroscopy in the wavelength band between 3 and 180 microns.
